On a quiet August morning, I visited The Newt in Somerset with my medium format camera loaded with Ilford HP5. The estate’s mix of gardens, architecture, and open landscape always makes it a rewarding place to photograph, especially in the softer light of early morning. I spent time around the Welcome Barn, the Kitchen Garden, and the Cottage Garden, before exploring the paths that lead out toward the Walled Garden and wider views beyond. A few double exposure tests found their way into the roll — small experiments that added an extra layer of character to the set. The negatives were processed and scanned at home, keeping the full analogue process in my hands. The resulting images capture a calm summer atmosphere and a few of my favourite viewpoints from one of Somerset’s most inspiring landscapes.
